This is a small nylon/plastic clip inserted directly into the vehicle's floor pan. The metal frame anchors protruding from the bottom of the rear seat bench press down and snap securely into these grommets.
Primary Role: It anchors the rear lower seat cushion to the body of the vehicle, eliminating cabin rattles and keeping the seat cushion safely locked in place.
Why it's replaced: These grommets are designed to be a one-way tight fit. When you yank the rear seat bench upward to remove it (for example, to access the fuel pump, clean the cabin, or route wiring), these plastic clips very frequently crack, bend, or lose their tension, requiring a replacement to get the seat to sit flush again.
